About

The Alliance of Collegiate Editors (ACE) is an association of 16 political publications at colleges across the United States. Founded in 2010 by University of Pennsylvania student Bob Ma, ACE builds editorial and publishing collaborations among member publications, with the goals of empowering student journalists, working together to achieve common editorial goals, and increasing nationwide student awareness of socio-political issues. We are a non-partisan organization with a multi-partisan membership.

ACE currently operates two major editorial collaborations. First, we organize ACE Forums, in which writes and editors from different publications directly engage each other on current topics, primarily through publishing and then critiquing articles on a common topic. Past topics have included affirmative action and American drone killings. Second, we facilitate multi-publication interviews with prominent public figures. Our most recent interviewees are Rebiya Kadeer, a prominent Uyghur rights activist, and Mark McKinnon, founder of No Labels.

On the publishing side, ACE finds and collectively bargains with advertisers, an initiative that has already helped member publications generate thousands of dollars in revenue. ACE also partners with professional organizations, including the Huffington Post, Politico, and USA Today, to increase readership of its members’ content.

In addition to continuing these initiatives, we plan to begin several others in the coming months, including a discussion forum on best practices for collegiate publications and a national conference. Furthermore, we aim to expand our membership to more political publications in the United States and abroad.
